Terms of use

Last updated:

These terms cover using RyeType, whether you read, reply or write. They are written to be read, so please do. By using the site you agree to them.

The service

RyeType is an invite-only showcase where designers publish posts about their work. Reading is free and needs no account. We may change, pause or discontinue any part of the service at any time, including features described on the features page.

Reading

You may read, share links to and follow anything published here. The posts belong to the writers who published them, so do not republish someone’s work elsewhere without their permission, beyond what the law allows, such as short quotes with credit.

Replies

When you reply to a post, you are responsible for what you write. Replies must follow the community guidelines. Every reader reply is reviewed before it is published, and we may decline, edit out or remove any reply. By sending a reply you give us permission to display it under the post.

Writer accounts

Writer accounts are offered by invitation only. An invitation lets you keep a profile and publish posts on these terms. Keep your sign-in details private and tell us through the contact page if you think someone else has used your account.

You are responsible for what you publish, including images and links. Only post work you have the right to share, and credit collaborators and sources.

Ownership and permission

You keep ownership of everything you publish on RyeType. By publishing, you give RyeType permission to host, display and distribute your posts, including through RSS feeds, for as long as they are on the site. You can ask us to remove any post or your whole profile, and we will.

Content we may remove

We may remove posts or replies, or close profiles, that break these terms or the community guidelines, or that we are required to remove. We may also withdraw an invitation if a profile seriously or repeatedly breaks the rules.

If you believe your work appears on RyeType without permission, use the contact page, choose Copyright concern, and send a link to your original and a link to the copy. We review each complaint and remove infringing material.

Using the site fairly

Do not try to break, overload or get around the protections of the site. That includes flooding the reply or contact forms, probing for vulnerabilities, and scraping in a way that slows the site down for others. Feed readers and search engines doing their normal work are welcome.

No warranty

RyeType is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. We do our best to keep it running and accurate, but we do not promise that it will always be available, error-free or secure, or that content published by writers is correct.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from your use of the site, from content published by writers or readers, or from the site being unavailable.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. If you keep using RyeType after a change, the updated terms apply.

Questions

Ask through the contact page. It is the only way to reach the RyeType team.
