Community guidelines
Last updated:
RyeType works because people trust what they read here: that the work is real, the credits are right and the replies are in good faith. These guidelines apply to writers and readers alike.
Show your own work, credit everyone else’s
Post work you made or helped make, and say what your part was. When a project was a team effort, name the role you played. When you show other people’s work, as reference, critique or inspiration, credit them clearly and link to the source. Passing off someone else’s design, photography, lettering or writing as your own is plagiarism, and it is not allowed.
What is not allowed
- Anything illegal, or content that helps someone break the law.
- Malware, phishing, or links that deceive readers about where they lead or what they will do.
- Harassment, hate, threats, or attacks on people for who they are.
- Sharing someone else’s private information, such as addresses, phone numbers or private messages, without their consent.
- Pretending to be another person, studio or brand.
- Plagiarism and copyright infringement, including reposting other designers’ work without permission or credit.
- Any sexual content involving minors. This is removed and reported.
Critique, kindly
Design writing often means disagreeing about choices: a typeface, a layout, a brief. That is welcome. Critique the work, not the person, and explain your reasoning. A reply that says why something does not work is useful; a reply that only mocks it is not.
Replies
Keep replies on the topic of the post and civil in tone. Replies that are off-topic, promotional, abusive or spam will not be approved. Every reader reply is reviewed before it appears, and moderators decide what is published.
Links
Writers may link to their own websites, portfolios and sources. Links should go where they say they go. Hidden redirects and links disguised as something else are treated as deceptive.
When something breaks the rules
Moderators may edit out or remove posts and replies that break these guidelines, and may close profiles that break them seriously or repeatedly. If you see something that should not be here, use the contact page and choose Report a post or reply, or Copyright concern if it is your own work. Include the address of the page so we can find it quickly.
